Daily scrum FAQ

What is Scrumly?

Scrumly is a daily scrum (stand-up) tool. Each person posts a short update answering three questions; Team Leads and Admins run a 15-minute stand-up from those updates and follow up on blockers.

What is a daily scrum?

A daily scrum is a 15-minute meeting where each team member answers three questions: what they accomplished on their last working day, what they will focus on today, and what is blocking them.

How long should a daily scrum take?

15 minutes or less. Scrumly keeps it short with a 15-minute timer and a Parking Lot for anything that needs more than a minute.

What are the three daily scrum questions?

What did I accomplish on my last working day? What will I focus on today? Is anything blocking me?

Why “last working day” instead of “yesterday”?

Because yesterday is often not a working day. On a Monday the last working day is Friday or Saturday, and after a holiday it is the day before the holiday, so progress is never lost over a weekend.

When does an update count as on time?

An update posted before the shift starts is tagged Early bird; one posted up to 15 minutes after the shift starts is On time; anything later is Late.

Who can read my updates?

You, your Team Lead and your Admin, plus anyone your organisation gives Scrum review. Colleagues see only the leaderboard: names, XP, streak and on-time rate.

Can I paste from Word or Google Docs?

Yes. Bulleted and numbered lists stay lists, bold, italic, underline and links are kept, and other styling is removed. Several plain lines become a bulleted list.

Is Scrumly for remote teams?

Yes. Each person posts in their own time zone and shift, and the stand-up works in the office, remote or hybrid.

Who makes Scrumly?

Scrumly is created by Appable Technologies (appable.in).
